Informed sources said that the return of teachers who are stuck abroad and the decision on the residency permit renewal would be governed by 3 parameters, Al-Anba reported.

Sources explained to the daily that these controls include the specializations subject teachers that are still in demand in the country, the failure to achieve local self-sufficiency until January, and the decision of health authorities to return to the traditional working hours and resume students’ attendance in schools.

The sources pointed out that local sufficiency has been achieved in most majors, by Kuwaiti graduates, children of Kuwaiti women, Gulf citizens, and those with undetermined nationalities, and work is underway to meet the rest of the needs.

The sources indicated that the return of stranded teachers whose residency has expired will be according to an official plan approved by the competent authorities, pointing out that the door will not be opened wide for the return of stranded expatriates, including teachers, but will only be in accordance with the requests of the government agency.

Source added that teachers whose residencies have expired will be the second category that will be allowed to return after approval of the return of domestic workers.

The sources also revealed that the Ministries of Interior and Education is coordinating to accomplish only the preliminary procedures required to renew residency permits online.

The detailed procedures to be decided after the health authorities issue a decision to return students to school.

The procedures to be completed are- identifying names, majors, and nationalities, and checking names by the competent authority.

In response to a question about when doctors and judges will be allowed to return, the sources answered that These two groups are scheduled for their return dates with the approval of the Corona Emergency Committee, as there are no accumulated requests for them.
