Thousands were seen enjoying their favorite restaurants and coffee shops, which were allowed to provide dine-in service from Sunday after a long period of closure. The Cabinet has decided to reopen all eateries provided customers abide by precautionary health measures against COVID-19 and conduct temperature checks.

Many residents are elated to once again spent time in cafes and restaurants, which is a favorite pastime, and part of many people’s routine.

After the government banned dine-in services in eateries, many restaurants opted for drive-in service, where customers were provided their meals in their cars. This was an attempt to maintain their business and to gain some profits as they still had financial obligations like employees’ salaries, and rents.

Many restaurant owners suffered great losses during the curfew and period of closure, and were forced to lay off many employees or take other cost-saving measure. Allowing dine-in has reignited the business for cafes and eateries who expect their business to slowly return to normal. This also comes in light of the government’s vaccination drive that crossed two million recently.

The health authorities are conducting a large campaign in the past weeks to vaccinate workers in restaurants, cafes, cooperative societies, mosques and commercial centers, who have contact in customers to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
