The government resignation submitted by Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled on April 5 has been accepted and is expected to be officially announced today.

A local Arabic daily has learned it is also expected that the resigned government will handle urgent matters, indicating the possibility of this continuing throughout the summer vacation period.

The sources pointed out that announcing the acceptance of the resignation automatically diminishes the option to dissolve the National Assembly, as well as a ‘government of urgent matters’ that can attend the special sessions of the National Assembly, pointing to several requests for holding private sessions, foremost of which is a session to approve the amendment of the Social Security Law and the grant of 3000 dinars to retirees and another to discuss the threats issued against Kuwait by some Iraqi currents.
