The residents of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh expressed joy and satisfaction after the barriers were removed and security left following the end to the lockdown after a long wait.  Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh was one of the areas that was placed under a total lockdown since March 11 following a spike in coronavirus cases, reports Al Seyassah daily.

Many residents could now safely return to work, especially as most of them work in construction sites and a majority of them are daily wage earners. Some workers, who work in car repair garages, revealed that the lockdown of Jleeb area for the last few months caused them and others psychological suffering, because they did not receive any salary during the lockdown period and were prevented from leaving the area.

Moreover, the residents were forced to wait patiently in queues for long hours for food parcels courtesy of charity societies as they couldn’t purchase them on their own. They stressed the end of lockdown will allow them to start working and earning for themslves, and wished that the ‘lockdown’ never happens again.

A worker for a big car company,Abu Ahmed pointed out that the majority of the workers live in the Abbasiya area of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, and the company stopped paying their employees’ salaries from the time the area came under total lockdown. Hosni Abdeljawad believes the announcement of the end of lockdown of the region is a relief and brings joy to families and bachelors and hopes the coronavirus crisis will end permanently and life returns to total normalcy.
