The Director-General of the General Department of Residency Affairs, Brigadier General Hamad Al-Tawala, has issued an administrative circular to the directors of the residency departments in the six governorates to start issuing entry visas, which went into effect yesterday, provided the applicants are vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved in Kuwait Pfizer-Biontec (two doses), and AstraZeneca – Oxford (two doses), Moderna (two doses), and Johnson & Johnson (one dose). However, a certificate has to be provided in this regard and the certificate must contain the QR code which is necessary prior to issuing the entry visa. The circular said the following categories are eligible to apply for the entry visa:

Join a family or tourist visa for the wife and children under 16 years old according to the procedures and conditions in force, the most important of which is the head of the family must meet the salary condition.

  • Issue of entry visas for commercial purposes but this is at the discretion of the director of the department.
  • It is allowed to issue entry visas for government visits to all ministries and government agencies.
  • It is allowed to issue electronic visas by Kuwaiti embassies abroad for nationals of 53 countries according to the approved list, residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council who hold one of the professions stipulated in Ministerial Resolution 2002/2030, companies and hotels registered in the system’s automated linking, in accordance with the conditions and procedures in force in the Special Services Department.

The circular also stipulates that entry visas can be issued to the government and private medical sectors, the private education sector provided they have taken the doses of approved vaccines mentioned above.

The Public Authority for Manpower announced that entry visas and work permits will be reissued through the authority’s electronic services portals (electronic forms portal or an easier service) adding that for the issuance of entry visas, work permits, the worker who is hired from abroad must have been vaccinated with vaccines approved by Kuwait mentioned above and must adhere to all health protocols.
