Opening the automated system of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) does not automatically mean the issuance of new work permits.

Meanwhile, sources told Al-Anba with the suspension of the director of the authority the door is open ‘legally’ for his deputy to withdraw the decision that was issued by his predecessor to stop renewing work permits of non-graduate expatriates who are 60-years and above.

In implementation of the Civil Service Law, the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, and Chairman of PAM had earlier suspended from work the PAM Director-General because he had issued an illegal decision to prevent the renewal of residence for that category of people.

The suspension came at the request of the Fatwa and Legislation Department of the Council of Ministers.

Sources told Al-Anbaa that the decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, to suspend the director of the Manpower Department, Ahmed Al-Mousa, opens the door for Minister Al-Salman – if he wants – to assign Al-Mousa’s deputy to carry out the work of the general manager and open the door for renewal of work permits.

What is the benefit of twisting and turning? If the law was wrong from the start, the Minister of Commerce should have taken the right decision, say sources.
