The Red Crescent Society distributed 1,000 food parcels to residents in the Khaitan areas, that was lockdown to handle the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid 19), in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. The general manager of the society, Abdul Rahman Al-Aoun, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines that the distribution of food baskets comes within the framework of the relief and humanitarian association’s efforts to help workers and expats in the lockdown areas.

Al-Aoun pointed out that the society has developed a plan for humanitarian intervention and relief for the residents of those areas since they were forced to stop working as a result of the lockdown as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

He added that the basket is filled with basic foodstuffs, and is sufficient for more than a month. He stressed the importance of distributing food aid and meals, which may help to provide some of their basic needs and comes at a time when many workers and residents suffer due to the consequences of coronavirus.

He stated that the distribution of food aid would include all the lockdown areas such as Farwaniya, Mahboula, and Hawalli, and explained that the association had started in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

Al-Aoun reported that the program for the distribution of food baskets, which the association has embarked upon since the beginning of the crisis, has had a good effect on the hearts of the beneficiaries. He affirmed the society’s keenness to continue its recent endeavors to improve the lives of workers and residents in lockdown areas and to alleviate their suffering. He also highlighted the importance of reaching the largest number of beneficiaries for the food aid.
