Today, Monday, the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society announced the distribution of 4,500 food baskets to needy families who are registered with the Society on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Society’s Secretary-General Maha Al-Barjas expressed the society’s keenness to provide the needs of these families, which contributes to increasing the spirit of social solidarity among members of society and alleviating the financial burdens on families, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, reports a local Arabic daily.

Al-Barjas added one food basket includes various needs of the family, such as rice, sugar, dates, edible oils, chicken and canned food, which suffices the family for a month.

She stated that the association also worked to support the needy and the poor outside Kuwait in Yemen, Comoros and Syrian refugees in Lebanon; Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pakistan, Malawi, Ghana, the Sudan, Senegal and Palestine. She explained that this aid comes as an embodiment of the humanitarian role of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.

She thanked the private sector, banks and benefactors of citizens and residents who take the initiative to donate to needy families through the association, stressing the importance of continuing to give to make the local aid program a complete success.
