Algerian National Day in Kuwait

On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, the country’s Ambassador H.E. Abdulhameed Abdaoui hosted a reception on 1 November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Fahad Muhamad Al-Afasi, who was the chief guest at the function, highlighted the continuous coordination between Kuwait and Algeria at all levels. He mentioned that Kuwait will be cooperating with Algeria at the judicial level by the end of this year by which judicial institutions will exchange expertise in all legal fields.

On his part, the Ambassador Abdaoui reaffirmed the strength of the Algerian-Kuwaiti relations, and described them as historical and evolving in different areas of cooperation and at all levels.

He pointed to the distinguished relations between the leadership of the two friendly countries, represented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

With regards to the important visits between the two countries, Algerian Ambassador Abdaoui mentioned that the Algerian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs visited Kuwait and held constructive talks with the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Subeeh. He also highlighted the possibilities of bringing Algerian expertise to Kuwait to contribute to its major projects through the public sector, and added that there was no impediment to the development of trade and investment relations. He added that the Algerian Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts will visit Kuwait to launch the first edition of the exhibition of traditional Algerian small industries in the last week of November, with the participation of craftsmen from different regions of Algeria, which will be held over five days.

The borders of modern Algeria were created during French colonial rule. The National Liberation Front (FLN), which was formed in 1954, overthrew French rule and declared Algeria an independent state in 1962. The largest country in the continent of Africa, Algeria has a diverse landscape as well as many charming cities with stunning architecture, Mediterranean coast, lush landscapes and Roman ruins among other tourist attractions.
