More than 83 percent of Kuwait roads are not within the safety scope, said the Head of Kuwait Road Safety Association Dr.Badar Al- Matar, pointing to the recent collapse of a road along the Sixth Ring Road, which also suggests failure of the companies executing road projects in the country.
He noted that the Society had on numerous occasions warned about the consequences of substandard construction or repairing of roads, and failure to abide by standard materials used for road construction.
He indicated that repetition of such incidents would lead to huge losses for both motorists and public funds.
He stressed the importance of finding practical and permanent solutions by ensuring that materials used in the road construction or repair are of high quality and have technical certifications. He added that it was also very important to have proper supervision of the materials used and the contractors undertaking such jobs.
