FIFA planned to move the 2022 Qatar World Cup to 20th November instead of the following day to give way for the hosts to open the tournament games. The opening match between Qatar and Ecuador shall drop after the inauguration ceremonies, official sources reported. The International Football Association Board (FIFA) and the Qatari organisers also approved the new schedule. Moreover, sources said that the Qatari officials and the South American football association, CONMEBOL, agreed to the proposed 29-day tournament instead of 28.
