The Ministry of Education tends to repeat the semester exams for the fifth grade, which were applied before the “Corona” crisis, so that in every 4 weeks there will be one evaluation exam and another for achievement.

A report submitted by the Ahmadi Education District to the public education sector, of which the Al-Rai daily obtained a copy, revealed a proposal to extend the period of the first semester to early January, to provide an opportunity to satisfactorily master subject skills.

The report indicated that the tests have essential functions in the life of the student, the teacher, the educational institution and society, as they represent an important stage of the academic year, as the student can be accurately evaluated through them.

The report stressed that the final exams for the fifth semester cannot be dispensed with, for several reasons, the most important of which are:

— It is one of the evaluation methods that measure the level of student’s achievement and identify the extent to which the objectives of the educational process have been achieved.

— A means of measuring the success of academic subjects, and revealing strengths and weaknesses in academic courses.

— It helps in identifying the individual differences among the learners, and thus preparing remedial plans in their light.

— Increases the parent’s interaction, interest and participation in the educational process.

— The cancellation creates a gap between the nature of the achievement tests in the fifth grade and the final exams in the sixth grade.

— It is a preparation for learners to move to the intermediate stage, break the barrier of fear of tests, and enhance self-confidence.

— It gives motivation to learners to study in order to obtain the highest grades and move to a new educational stage.

— It is an incentive for learners to challenge and achieve goals, which instills in children the necessity of having goals in their lives and planning to achieve them.
