Indian President Murmu will felicitate 75 teachers with National Teachers’ Award on September 5. This year, the award has been expanded to two other departments.
President Droupadi Murmu will present the National Teachers’ Award to 75 teachers from across the country on Tuesday, September 5 on the occasion of National Teachers’ Day.
According to the India’s ministry of education, this year, the award has been expanded to teachers of the department of higher education and the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.
Fifty school teachers, 13 from different colleges and 12 from various government institutes have been selected for the prestigious award in teaching.
“The purpose of National Teachers’ Award is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and to honor those teachers who, through their commitment and dedication, have not only improved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students,” read a statement by the ministry of education.
Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs. 50,000 and a silver medal. The awardees are also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
