Pakistani Naval Ship ‘TARIQ’ paid a goodwill visit to Kuwait from Sep 29 to Oct 03. During the stay in Kuwait, the Captain of the ship made courtesy calls on the dignitaries of Kuwait Navy. A reception was hosted onboard the ship which was attended by the Diplomats, members of Pakistani community as well as the representatives from Kuwait Navy and other departments.

The Flotilla Commander of Kuwait Naval Forces Colonel Waleed Al-Obaidi, was the chief guest on the occasion. In his brief remarks, the ship’s captain said that making sea lanes secure for seafarers in the region was their prime objective and the current visit was part of courtesy calls the ship makes on friendly nations within the region in the course of its mission.  He said Pakistan Navy was committed to maintain peace and security in the region and to fight against terrorism, piracy and other illegal activities.

The Ambassador of Pakistan Syed Abrar Hussain also hosted a dinner for officers of the ship at local hotel. The Deputy Chief of Kuwait Naval Forces, Brigadier General Mansour Khaled Al-Mesad was the chief guest. The Ambassador while speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan and Kuwait enjoyed great relations and the visit of the ship would further cement those ties. He also thanked the government of Kuwait for hosting the visit and for the hospitality which the Captain of the ship and his crew received here.
