Government sources revealed a comprehensive plan to reduce the costs of housing, education and overseas treatment by accelerating the implementation of a number of related projects.

The sources told a local Arabic daily work is actually underway to allocate about 14 new sites for the benefit of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, to ensure the implementation of housing projects and the allocation of land faster, pointing out that the Council of Ministers has addressed all government agencies to provide it with an inventory of all lands within the residential, investment, industrial and warehouse sectors and storage, in addition to lands related to educational and health services, in order to allocate them to projects included in the plan to reduce the costs of those services.

The sources stated that the Cabinet, through successive meetings, took several decisions with the aim of implementing this ambitious plan, in which consideration was given to address the obstacles that may face the implementation process.

The Council of Ministers has instructed the PAHW to take all necessary measures to provide housing care for citizens as quickly as possible in light of the current economic conditions in the country, and to rush to work on legislative requirements that would support these efforts and overcome any obstacles that might face the work of the executive plans.

The Ministry of Health is called upon to quickly coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Public Works, Electricity and Water, and the Central Agency for Public Tenders, to take all measures to overcome all obstacles facing the construction of health projects, and to do everything necessary to accelerate the pace of completion and operation of these projects.

This is in addition to the establishment of a clear mechanism to allocate about 14 new sites for the Public Authority for Housing Welfare — West Abdullah Al-Mubarak, Abu Halifa, West Doha, Sa’ad Al-Abdullah Expansion “The Camp Site”, South Sulaibiya, South Ali Sabah Al-Salem “Umm Al-Hayman”, South Jaber Al-Ahmad, North West of Jahra, southwest of Jahra, west of Hadiya, Shaddadiah (southwest of Abdullah Al-Mubarak), north of Sabah Al-Ahmad, and west of Sabah Al-Ahmad.

The plan aims to provide strategic storage areas to establish stores and warehouses for food storage and other purposes according to the current and future requirements of the country, through a number of decisions, including:

— Assigning the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to study the possibility of it carrying out management, organizing and supervising strategic storage areas and available lands allocated for these purposes, in a way that contributes to enhancing strategic food security and providing basic foodstuffs in the country.

— Assigning the Ministry of Public Works to study the possibility of allocating a sea berth in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port for the benefit of both the Flour Mills Company and the Kuwait Catering Company to exploit it for storage purposes.

— Assigning the General Authority for Investment to study the extent of a closed government company to establish, manage and operate public storage areas for foodstuffs, medicines, medical supplies, and others, and to indicate its needs for lands and necessary spaces, as well as all related logistical services and infrastructure.
