Members of Pinoy (Filipino) Farwaniya Volunteers in Kuwait held a charity food drive distribution Friday morning in Fahaheel area to more than hundred recipients.

The group, which initiated its project of food distribution during the locked down period in Fahaheel area, on its tenth food sharing had attracted more than numerous members with intentions to share time, effort and resources in aid of other Filipinos in Kuwait.

In a brief interview with secretary of the organization Buddy Centeno II stated that the organization was formed among Overseas Filipino Workers who were residents of Farwaniya. “We actually did not know each other and we all decided to come together and shared ingredients to come up with cooked food and distributed among OFWs residing in same area” commented Centeno.

On June 2020 cooked food distribution started with 50 recipients which eventually ballooned to about 500. Other areas eventually also requested for food aids which also included diapers, milk for babies, groceries and other essential items. The Old Souq in Salmiya had also been one of the locales of the group’s volunteer works where about 100 people came to receive packed cooked food. “With these projects we hope we can raise awareness for others to share what they can to others’ who may be in need of help. We have had about 10 food distribution so far and the most recent was on the 29th of October” added Centeno.
