The Director of the Physiotherapy Hospital and the Prosthetics Center, Dr. Salah Al-Shayji, said the hospital has reduced the waiting period and that appointments are given as quickly as possible.

He noted, that in recent years the focus has been on daily treatment, and “we started this stage with children during 2015-2016,” reports a local Arabic daily quoting Dr Shayji.

Dr Shayji went on to say, “We will soon witness the opening of two wings in the new building for women, and the expansion of the wards of the children’s department and the men’s department as well.” He saud this in a press statement, on the occasion of the celebration of the World Physiotherapy Day, which falls on September 8 of each year.

He pointed out that “there are new devices will be brought in, in the near future that will greatly help us in developing the work,” pointing to the hospital’s previous cooperation with the Patients’ Help Fund, with the help of which a children’s club was opened.

He announced the possibility of opening a room for the amusement of the elderly in the near future.

For her part, the Head of the Women Physiotherapy Department at the Medicine and Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Nafisa Kamal, said that hydrotherapy receives between 18 and 24 patients daily and thanked the hospital for its cooperation on the World Physiotherapy Day.

For her part, the head physiotherapist at the Physical Medicine and Health Rehabilitation Hospital and the coordinator of the daily treatment department (children), at the hospital, Dr. Laila Kassem said the department is always developing, and it tries to keep pace with the latest treatment methods for children adopted all over the world.

The Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council warned against using toothpaste on first-degree burns, in an effort to reduce pain and mitigate the effects.

The council said, in a press statement, that the paste contains chemicals that cause burn inflammation.

The council stressed the need to stay away from applying olive oil and butter on burns, as these substances cause heat retention inside the burns.
