The Philippine Foreign Ministry has expressed its aspiration to engage in discussions regarding the potential resumption of sending Filipino workers to Kuwait, following the conviction by the Kuwaiti Juvenile Court in a case involving the murder of a Filipino worker.

In a press interview on Friday, Philippine Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega emphasized the importance of this development, stating that the family of the victim, Ranara, attaining justice is a positive step. He also acknowledged Kuwait’s efforts in this regard, reports Al-Rai daily.

De Vega added, “We are hopeful for further dialogue with Kuwait to address the current situation and work towards solutions for the safe return of our workers.”

He mentioned that, considering the perspective of their colleagues in the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), they are considering approaching Kuwait to reinitiate discussions. Their aim is to chart a path forward and eventually lift the suspension on both sides.
