The Philippine ambassador, Mohamed Noureddine Lumondot, confirmed that the transactions of about 250 workers have been completed for them to be able to return to the Philippines by a special Philippine flight. The number of expected to rise to 330 with the addition of about 80 domestic workers from outside the embassy shelter who wish to return, Al-Rai reported.

In a statement to the daily, Lomondot revealed that about 14,000 procedures for extending and renewing passports were completed during February. He said that about 250 transactions per day during weekdays and 2,500 transactions on the weekend are processed.

He expected a big breakthrough in the file of the return of the recruitment of Filipino domestic workers. A close meeting will likely be held between the officials of the labor sector in the two countries to conclude the approval of the harmoniously unified contract for the recruitment of workers from his country.
