The power index reached 11150 megawatts at 2:00 pm, peak time of consumption Friday, considered the highest for this year with the approach of the summer season in light of the high temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius.

Informed sources at the Ministry of Electricity and Water and Renewable Energy pointed out that the reserve of 2,520 megawatts, is considered reassuring, pointing out that the pace of maintenance of the stations and their introduction into service is going as planned to be ready in the peak season.

The same sources pointed out that the ministry expects an increase in the volume of consumption starting from the end of this month, and it may reach 16,500 MW during the peak season, according to the mathematical forecasts of consumption compared to the highest consumption last year, noting that the total capacity of the stations exceeds 18,000 MW.

In addition, an emergency accident in one of the transformers feeding the Abdali area partially cut off the electricity supply to the area’s farms area.

The Ministry of Electricity and Water said that emergency teams were present at the site, and the necessary work was done to restore the electricity as soon as possible.
