Parliament allegiance pledge on Thursday if Crown Prince chosen, says speaker

Kuwait’s National Assembly will end its sessions on Thursday after pledging allegiance to the new Crown Prince, in the event His Highness the Amir reaches a decision on his selection, the Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Tuesday.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in accordance with the Kuwaiti constitution, has one year to name the next in line, Al-Ghanim said in a statement.
In the event the parliament does not receive a decision a day ahead of the closing session, the matter will be postponed until after the termination of the session according to constitutional and legal procedures, he added.
