The Ministry of Interior has called on parents to inform the concerned authorities about their children who use drugs so that they can be treated, cared for and rehabilitated without criminal accountability, as part of the awareness campaign to prevent drug abuse under the slogan ‘Weyak’.

The Ministry of Interior said the security agencies deal firmly in combating the scourge of drugs, whether by arresting smugglers and promoters of these toxins or through intensive awareness campaigns of the effects of this destructive scourge, noting that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant-General (Ret) Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas give high priority on addressing the scourge of drugs.

The Ministry added that it is continuing its awareness campaigns for the policy and management of drug abuse prevention, and in conjunction with the International Day for Drug Control, which falls on June 26 of each year, the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior in partnership with the General Department for Drug Control and in cooperation with state institutions and civil society institutions, implemented the awareness-raising campaign for the prevention of drug abuse under the slogan “Weyak”.

The campaign aims to raise awareness to curb the growth of the drug scourge among all segments of society by spreading facts about the dangers of drugs and emphasizing the role of the family and educational institutions (universities, colleges, institutes and schools) in promoting the concepts of educational control to protect young people and youth from this destructive scourge.

The sources pointed out that the General Administration for Narcotics Control is making great efforts in controlling drug traffickers and has made great strides in cooperation with all security agencies to nip in the bud efforts of drugs smugglers, traffickers and consumers.
