Companies will receive additional support to weather the storm of the economic fallout of the coronavirus preventative measures on the condition they pay the salaries of Kuwaiti workers in a timely fashion, Al Qabas reported. The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) announced the linking of granting additional financial support for companies to the commitment of these companies to transfer employees’ dues in their accounts within 7 days for Kuwaiti employees, starting 7 September until the middle of this month.

The amount spent on the additional support in the past three months is approximately KD75 million, while around 4,530 companies are expected to benefit from this financial support, revealed the Director of the Public Relations and Media Department, PAM’s spokeswoman, Asil Al-Mazyad.

She called on Monday for companies benefiting from the disbursement of additional financial support for national workers to abide by the decisions of the Council of Ministers and deposit employees’ dues in their bank accounts before the 15th of September.

Al-Mazyad indicated that it will stop disbursing the financial support for September and calculate the amount disbursed to companies for months June, July and August as debts in the event of non-compliance with the decisions and the deposit of salaries in the accounts registered, no later than mid-September.

She stated that there is coordination between the workforce, banks and financial institutions to ensure that the entities follow the conditions for the additional financial support for national workers, provided that the previous payments for national workers are confirmed by the maximum of the middle of this month.

In the event of non-response, She pointed to a suspension for facilities found to be in violation of the conditions. Al-Mazyad clarified that last week, PAM deposited additional financial support in the accounts of beneficiaries of business owners for 3 months at once, in exchange for these companies to commit to paying the salaries of the national workers. She pointed out that this endeavor aims to preserve the advances made in national employment in the private sector and enhancing job security for them.
