The Public Authority for Manpower has stopped issuing work permits to expatriates coming to Kuwait on commercial visit visas.

The Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources said the authority’s decision, which takes effect as of today, Wednesday, is based on a recommendation issued by the Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies last week, as part of a series of precautionary measures adopted by the country in view of the ‘resurgence of the ‘Corona virus in some countries in the region and a large number of European countries.

The Council of Ministers had agreed in late October to re-issue all kinds of entry visas to Kuwait, and PAM also allowed the issuance of work permits for those who were initially recruited on commercial visit visas.

The sources have indicated transactions that were previously received through PAM’s automated system will be completed. However, transfer transactions will be automatically banned within the system as of today.

On a related level, health sources reiterated the necessity of receiving the (third) booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to strengthen immunity against infection and to reduce the chances of infection with the virus and its variants, stressing the importance of continuing to adhere to health requirements to ensure the continuation of normal life and maintain the stability of the epidemiological and health situation in Kuwait.
