The Public Authority for Manpower has received 37,000 labor complaints over the past year, approximately 12,000 of which are related to transfer disputes from one employer to another.

An informed source revealed to Al-Qabas that the authority is on the verge of a series of procedures for restructuring the procedures for transferring employment within the private sector and between employers, in a way that guarantees the right of the worker and the employer.

The source pointed out that according to a report on the numbers of Article 18 violators, last year witnessed an increase in the total number of violators in this private sector to about 30 thousand, while work is currently underway to complete the update of facility data for 62 thousand workers registered in violating facilities.

In another context, a group of residents who obtained residency according to Article 24, “sponsor himself,” entered into a whirlpool of violations, in light of the transfer of their renewal requests exclusively to the office of the General Director-General of Residency Affairs in Dajeej.

Despite the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas, issuing a circular to stop receiving 26 services available on the Sahel application in the various departments, including the residence of the sponsor himself, the files of the owners of those residences are required to be reviewed by the Ministry of Interior.

Those affected by the decision told Al-Qabas that they submitted all the data and papers proving their right to obtain a residence permit for a “sponsor himself” based on the executive regulations of the residence law, which prove that they have sums of money that enable them to live decently in Kuwait, but presenting the files to a committee needs a long time to process.

In addition, official statistics revealed that the total number of those who obtained a “sponsor himself” residency until the end of last year amounted to 2,352, down by 104 from 2021.

The statistics showed that the total number of persons granted for the first time reached 219, including divorced Kuwaitis with children, in addition to widows who take care of a minor and have a source of income.

The total number of canceled residence permits for this category in the past 4 years is 666, with 104 violators awaiting renewal so far.
