The Director of the Public Relations and Media Department, the official spokeswoman for the Public Authority for Manpower, Aseel Al-Mazyad, revealed a set of reasons to stop disbursing rewards for graduates, most notably the graduate’s refusal to work.

Al-Mazyad told Al-Qabas that one of the reasons is not checking job opportunities offered on the site of the authority and the graduate choosing what suits him/her best.

She indicated that the authority undertakes the disbursement of the reward in accordance with the disbursement conditions stipulated in the decision of the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education, regarding the controls for the disbursement of the social reward for graduates, and the most important of these conditions include submitting a request for disbursing the reward on the authority’s designated website, and not receiving assistance or salary from any government agency of the nature of the reward itself.

Regarding the period of disbursement of the reward to the graduate, she explained that it continues from the date of graduation until the date of joining a job, or the availability of one of the reasons for stopping and forfeiting the right to disburse it.

She indicated that the Authority received 38,000 transactions during the past year related to graduates of universities and colleges, the Public Authority for Applied Education and institutes of higher education, and they were distributed between requests for disbursement of graduate rewards or completing deficiencies.

The main reasons for stopping the payment of bonuses include:

■ Non-continuity of disbursement from the education authority.

■ Rejecting a single job opportunity in the government sector.

■ Rejecting two job opportunities in the private sector.

■ If the graduate is Chief Executive Officer or General Manager of a company.

■ All those who are registered with the Bar Association.
