Assigned Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Dr. Mubarak Al-Azmi, affirmed with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, Honorable Jose Cabrera, that the country provides legal protection for all expatriate workers of all nationalities.

During a meeting with the Philippine diplomat and accompanying delegation, a local daily reported that the Al-Azmi stressed the keenness of the two parties to cooperate on the account of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and to discuss some issues that concern them, in hopes that the percentage of Filipino workers in Kuwait will increase. He also indicated that the Republic of the Philippines is ready to deploy more manpower and supply facilities to Kuwait, and other related matters. The officials also discussed opening a way to receive workers and ensure an appropriate work environment that guarantees all workers their rights, including Filipino workers in the private and domestic sectors.

Moreover, Al-Azmi acknowledged the long-standing and distinctive historical relations between the two countries at the highest levels, and the keenness to always maintain the relationship.

In attendance were the Director of the Domestic Workers Department, Nasser Al-Moussawi, the Controller of the Labor Relations Department, Ali Al-Dalmani, and the political science researcher Khaled Al-Sabah, in addition to the translator Ahmed Al-Zayd. The Philippine delegation was represented by the Vice-Consul Josel Mustago, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Labor Attaché Catherine A. Dooladol, and the welfare officer from the Philippine Embassy, Geneva C. Aguilar Ardente.
