The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) announced the end of the work ban that forbade workers from toiling under the sun in open places from 11 am to 4 pm between June 1 to August 31, Al Qabas reports.

The National Center for Occupational Health and Safety had inspected sites in all governorates to ensure that project owners adhered to the decision during the three months. In this regard, Director of Public Relations Department of Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and PAM spokesperson Asil Al-Meziad revealed that there were inspection campaigns carried out by the team during the period from June 1 to August 31, and the results are as follows: 503 workers were caught working during the ban, 68 reports were received, the number of sites violating the ban for the first time reached 333, the number of sites that were re-inspected were 422 sites, and the number of re-inspected sites found repeating the violation was 6 sites.

PAM’s inspection campaign across construction sites ensured the employers, companies and registered workers were adhering to the decision as such work at the mentioned time is tiring and exhausting for the workers, and was for their safety during the summer season.

The first time a violation is exposed, a warning was given and if the site is re-inspected, and violations are found again, the company incurs a fine ranging between KD100 to KD200 dinars per worker onsite during the work ban.  They are also referred to the General Administration of Investigations to take the necessary action. This was done in order to preserve the safety of workers.
