The Public Authority for Housing Welfare is preparing to float tenders for the low-cost Al-Naayem housing project to build 9,800 homes in the Salmi area, within two months, according to a specific timetable.
Informed sources told Al-Qabas that the first phase of the housing project for the construction of infrastructure was completed a year ago, and all that remains is the direct construction of these housing units, which are expected to be offered in several stages, starting within the next two months.
The sources indicated that these housing units will be an alternative to the Sulaibiya and Taima areas, and explained that the project will target several categories, most notably Kuwaiti women who are divorced, widowed, and others to whom the residential care regulation applies.
The sources stated that the project includes 59 public buildings with various services, and explained that tenders will be floated for 9 construction packages, each of which including a group of houses, public buildings, and others.
The sources pointed out that the first tender will include the construction of 1,568 homes, while the second tender will include the construction of 1,162 homes, and the third tender the construction of 1,777 homes. All these tenders will include the construction of public buildings as well.
The sources indicated that one of the tenders will include the construction of 995 houses, and another the construction of 1,228 houses, and a tender will be issued for the construction of 801 houses, followed by a tender for the construction of 472 houses, and a tender for the construction of 990 houses, and another for the construction of 807 houses.
The sources indicated that the project will include an investment housing area of 48,000 square meters, public buildings, services, a craft area, and infrastructure service areas that include overhead water towers and a sewage treatment plant.
The division of tenders according to a specific timetable is aimed at speeding up the completion without the project faltering in the event that any of the contractors encountered obstacles in completing the construction, say the sources.
Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare began distributing the fifth batch of suburb N3 in government plots in the south Saad Al-Abdullah City project, which includes 303 plots with an area of 400 square meters each, for those who have been allocated as of December 29, 2003.
