The Public Authority for Civil Information has successfully resolved the issue of delayed issuance of civil ID cards, and the waiting time has returned to normal.
Reliable sources from Al-Qabas quoting PACI officials said this achievement was made possible under the watchful guidance of Dr. Mansour Al-Muthin, the PACI Director General. A new and efficient mechanism has been implemented in collaboration with relevant departments to expedite the process of issuing civil cards for both citizens and residents, regardless of the type of residence.
Thanks to these improvements, the daily issuance rate of new cards has surpassed 13,000, resulting in bustling crowds of eager citizens and residents at the card delivery halls during official working hours.
Moreover, the authority is contemplating the implementation of monetary fines for individuals who fail to collect their ready-made civil cards from the designated devices. These unclaimed cards will be destroyed, and an official decision on this matter is expected soon.
With the new mechanism in place, the turnaround time for issuing a new card has been significantly reduced to between two to three working days.
Additionally, the service is now integrated with the Sahel application and the My Identity application, ensuring that cardholders receive timely notifications about their ready-to-receive civil cards from the assigned devices.
In a bid to enhance efficiency, the authority has upgraded its devices, incorporating automated barcodes to process certain types of transactions, especially for first-time issuances and lost cards.
The development plan for the issuance and collection of civil cards is ongoing, and the civil card delivery service will soon be reactivated once all necessary contracts have been finalized.
While the majority of transactions for citizens and residents are handled efficiently through the electronic system for services, a few specific transactions still require prior appointments during official work hours to facilitate the process smoothly.
