The Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources Eng. Mishaal Al-Qarifa has called on the Maritime Supervision staff to tighten procedures against any person using prohibited fishing nets or fishing in areas or times prohibited by law, and to follow up on any communication by citizens.

During a field visit to the Maritime Control Department during the Eid al-Fitr holiday to inspect the progress of work and monitor their efforts to curb illegal fishing and related violations in Kuwaiti waters, Al-Qarifa added that the authority will not tolerate violators of fishing laws, reports Al-Jarida daily.

He called on the officials and employees of the administration to intensify efforts and increase the level of vigilance during sea inspection tours to preserve fish stocks as one of the most important axes of food security in the country.

He indicated that the success of their work requires strengthening cooperation and full coordination with the authorities concerned with protecting maritime borders and “our fish wealth”, such as the Kuwait Institute Scientific Research and the Coast Guard.
