The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed that the Oxford vaccines third batch is scheduled to be received by a local agent in Kuwait this month, pending the completion of all laboratory tests and other tests to ensure their safety and to make sure the safety procedures were followed with regards to shipping and transportation, in the interest of public health and safety, Al Rai daily reported.

The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that those who are scheduled to receive the second vaccine dose will be informed after a period of no more than 4 months between the two doses.

The practice of setting the period between the two doses for the Oxford Vaccine to 4 months is being followed in several countries, including Canada, Turkey, Spain, France, Denmark and others.

Studies have shown that the recipient acquires immunity after the first dose of the Oxford vaccine, which remains potent for up to 4 months. For the effectiveness of immunity to last, it must be supplemented by the second dose, said MoH.

The ministry stressed that it will not hesitate to do everything to ensure the health and safety of all, and appreciates everyone’s understanding that certain actions are taken due to international developments regarding the manufacture and production of covid-19 vaccines, especially global demand, which has an effect on supplies to countries of the world, and in the region, including the State of Kuwait.
