The Public Security Sector released a statistical report indicating that between September 2022 and May 2023, a total of 22,212 security checkpoints were set up in the capital, Hawally, Ahmadi, Jahra, Farwaniya, Mubarak Al-Kabeer and the secret missions, resulting in the arrest of 534 fugitives and 2,695 expatriates violating the residency law, Al-Anbaa reported.
According to the report headed by Major General Abdullah Al-Rajeeb, most of the residency law violators were arrested in Farwaniya, with a total of 878. Meanwhile, the report showed 580 violators in the Capital Governorate, followed by the other governorates. In addition, security had seized a total of 2,506 drug and alcohol cases, with 2,279 for possession of illegal drugs and 227 for possession of alcohol.
The report added that Farwaniya had the highest number of drug-related cases, with 420 arrests, while Jahra had 395 cases, followed by the other governorates. Meanwhile, Ahmadi had the highest number of liquor seizures, with 52 cases, while Jahra and Farwaniya had 33 cases each. The Public Security Sector also recorded a total of 100,169 traffic violations, showing the Ahmadi Governorate as having the most violations, with 20,444 cases. Furthermore, the sector also dealt with 39,432 miscellaneous traffic accidents, and issued 230 parking violations in disabled parking slots.
