Amnesty International Member Counselor in Kuwait Khalid Al-Shamroukh has strongly criticised the attempts by an online group calling itself ‘Kuwait Movement against Marginalization of Competent Kuwaitis’, to sow hatred and incite disputes between nationals of different countries.

He pointed out that, the fact the group had recently changed its name from ‘Kuwait Movement against Penetration of Expatriates’ showed the group is trying to hide its true nature and its nefarious aims. He said the people behind the group are ultimately unpatriotic as their actions are designed to distort the reputation of Kuwait in the international arena.

Al-Shamroukh added that he planned to file a complaint at the Cyber Crimes General Department against the group behind this fake account. He also praised the role played by media in uncovering the group as it aims to spread racism in the country. He clarified that although he is against expatriates violating the law, he does not condone anybody who distorts the image of expatriates through fake social media accounts.
