SpaceX, owned by American businessman Elon Musk, has succeeded in placing 40 satellites for its competitor in the field of space Internet communications, the OneWeb company, into orbit.

“Mission completed successfully,” OneWeb said on Twitter, according to a local Arabic daily.

“We are pleased to inform you that we have had contact with all 40 launched satellites,” sources added, explaining that with this latest launch, nearly 80 percent of the planned low Earth orbit constellation has been deployed.

In March, OneWeb suspended all future launches from the Russian space station in Kazakhstan after Moscow demanded that the company provide guarantees for the non-military use of the satellites and asked the British company to sell its stake in the project.

It is noteworthy that the OneWeb satellites are designed to build a space-based communications system that provides broadband Internet access to anywhere around the world.
