The Public Relations and Security and Media Department at the Ministry of Interior stated that within the framework of the keenness and interest of the senior security leadership at the Ministry of Interior in everything that contributes to improving the taxi drivers’ transportation service and providing the best services to citizens and residents.
A local Arabic daily said, this is done to ensure safety of passengers and vehicle drivers, and to facilitate traffic on the roads, the General Traffic Department issued instructions to roaming and on-call taxi companies and offices.
The following are the instructions:
1 – Placing the permit copy for the roaming taxi or on-call taxi in Arabic and English in a clear place behind the driver’s seat on both sides.
2 – The company’s data and the driver’s phone number.
3 – Operating the meter.
4 – Illuminating of the ‘taxi’ sign when it is for hire.
5 – The obligation of taxi drivers on call not to pick up passengers from the street.
6 – Commitment of taxi and on-call taxi drivers not to pick up passengers from Kuwait International Airport.
7 – The obligation of mobile taxi drivers not to load passengers from highways or main roads.
8 – The obligation of taxi drivers of all kinds to transport passengers only and it is not permissible to transport things or food.
The General Traffic Department stressed the need for taxi drivers to abide by these instructions, and that any taxi driver who violates the instructions and the traffic law will be held accountable.
