OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) The Movie will be screened at the American International School on 28 February from 10 am till 12 noon and 4 pm till 6 pm, with special appearances of Philippines’ prime actors Rafael Rosell and Manuel Chua. A special screening will be held at the Philippines shelter the following day. The  Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Mohamamd Nordin Lomondot accompanied by the embassy staff will grace the occasion. Among the highlights of the event is the awarding of Philippine Pesos 500,000 prize to the winner of MoneyGram and Bahrain Exchange Company (BEC) raffle draw for 2020.

OFW The Movie is based on the true stories of five Filipino overseas contract workers, who are perceived as ordinary, but looked at the sunny side of life and viewed their work abroad with rose-tinted glasses. Overseas Filipino workers are deemed heroes because of their contributions to both their families and the Philippines economy. Many Filipinos desire to become OFWs as they are highly commended and respected for their work.

There is, however, more to being an OFW that people do not know about and that is exactly what the aim is behind the movie. There are many misconceptions about working abroad due to some poor OFWs who have been killed or suffered abuse, and imprisonment, with some death penalty cases making headlines. Rarely are there tales about Filipinos working abroad who have found real happiness and prosperity from trying their luck on lands that are alien to them. The producers aim to paint a more realistic picture of what it is like working in another land and emerging victorious while providing a better life for yourselves.

The five stories are narratively presented by former OWWA Executive Director Arnel Ignacio with other funny, interesting and inspiring stories from different overseas workers abroad through interviews and reenactments. Sponsors include ChowKing, Jollibee, PJ’s Coffee, Itea, Resto Club 52, Bubble Street, ZPablik, Yazeemir, JVR Recruitment Agency, Phil Asmak, OFW Family Club and The Times Square Hotel. Media Partners: The Times Kuwait, AIM 101 and Pinoy Arabia Marina FM. For more details, call:  99138775 /51579450/67051430/99766796/ 55366649 /50187883.
