The Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al- Khaled, has ordered to conduct a comprehensive study and formulate solutions to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. This will be carried out provided that concerned authorities kickstart the studies immediately, along with intensifying the patrols at intersections in order to reduce traffic congestion and maintain the regular movement of vehicles and the implementation of the traffic and security plan with sorting traffic patrols in the congestion area in the Sabah Al-Salem area during peak hours.

Al-Khaled stressed the need to apply traffic rules to violators, especially in school areas, while handling the cases with dignity. He also pointed out that the blockades delay students from returning to their homes, affecting the student’s entire family, according to a local Arab paper.

On the other hand, given the heavy traffic in the Sabah Al-Salem area, the official also confirmed communication with the Ministers of Education and the Municipality regarding the prevention of the issuance of any new licenses for schools in the area. This is regarding his field visit to the Sabah Al-Salem area, accompanied by the Traffic Sector, the Public Authority for Roads, the Ministry of Works, the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, and the project contractor to follow up on heavy congestion at the end of school, coinciding with the start of the new school year and with the aim of easing traffic jams.

He was briefed by state leaders on the causes of traffic jams in the Sabah Al-Salem area and the solutions put in place by the sectors to facilitate traffic and assess the traffic situation in the area round the clock, especially at peak hours, while achieving the highest levels of security and safety for students and drivers, as well as easing traffic jams. The site was attended by the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, and the Director General of the Public Authority for Roads, Eng. Suha Ashkanani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works for Maintenance Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, and Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Ghanem Al-Sanad.
