Customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb border port managed to thwart the smuggling of 1,482 cartons of cigarettes into a neighboring Gulf state.
A local Arabic daily said, “After a saloon car approached the Nuwaiseeb border crossing check point the vehicle was searched and inspectors found the cartons neatly hidden in various places of the vehicle body.
The contraband has been confiscated and the vehicle and the motorist have been referred to the concerned authorities.
