First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled has emphatically stated that the law applies universally without bias or exemption to everyone and that no individual is immune to law, and those who believe otherwise are mistaken.

During his visit to offer condolences to one of the young men who tragically passed in the accident involving two four-wheel-drives, Al-Khaled asserted, “Any person, regardless of their status or position, who assumes they are beyond the reach of the law is deluding himself/herself,” reports Al-Jarida daily.

He proceeded to underline that investigations into the recent accident case are ongoing, and due legal procedures will be followed. The investigation authorities continue to meticulously examine the details of the incident, which will eventually be subjected to the scrutiny of the impartial judiciary — the ultimate arbiter.

In relation to the incident, a security source informed Al-Jarida newspaper that the Ministry of Interior’s Operations Room received a report at dawn the previous day regarding a collision between two four-wheel vehicles on Al-Soor Street, near the First Ring.

One of the vehicles was being driven by a female citizen accompanied by another person, while the other vehicle was driven by a citizen with three other passengers. Immediate action was taken upon receiving the report; traffic officers from the Capital Governorate Traffic Department, along with police patrols and the city fire station, promptly arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, the traffic officers found that the accident had resulted in six individuals sustaining injuries. The injured were extracted from the wreckage by firefighters and then transferred to Al-Amiri Hospital using emergency medical ambulances.

Unfortunately, two of the injured individuals, who were part of a group of four young citizens in one of the vehicles, succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

The source detailed that officials from the General Department of Criminal Evidence were dispatched to the hospital to oversee the transfer of the deceased bodies to the forensic medicine department.

Simultaneously, the Investigation Department at the Salhiya Police Station initiated an inquiry into the accident. Their investigation involved examining the scene, the vehicles, and the circumstances surrounding the collision. A case titled “collision, injury, and death” was formally registered, leading to the detention of the female driver of the other involved vehicle. The detention is pending an inquiry aimed at verifying certain evidence in connection with the case.

Additionally, the investigation department requested the GTD Traffic Operations Division to review footage from traffic monitoring and control cameras positioned at the intersection. This step aims to identify the vehicle responsible for triggering the accident.
