Work permits for those who aged 60 and above will not be renewed, with the exception of holders of a high school diploma or university degree, after the decision came into force this year, Al-Seyassah daily reported.

Informed sources told the Al- Seyassah daily there is an exception for those 60 to 65 years old expats who have a high school diploma or is a postgraduate to renew their residence permit while those who are above 65 will be required to provide valid proof that they are graduates with rare specializations and occupy positions in specialized medical professions, consultants and other professions, which are needed in the country.

However, residence permits of expats 70 and above are not to be renewed regardless if they have university degrees and a diploma. The new online system at the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) will not process the renewal requests.
