The Government said there are no plans to reduce the quarantine period of 14 days, which the travelers to Kuwait have to adhere. Kuwait is committed to closely follow the instructions outlined by the World Health Organization and international organizations in this regard as a measure against the spread of the coronavirus.

The Council of Ministers is expected to  announce soon that Afghanistan will be added to the 31 country ban list from where expats are not permitted to enter Kuwait.

The decision is being implemented on the recommendation of the health authorities on the reason that many positive cases were discovered among arrivals from the country in the airport.

The Cabinet decided to continue the ban list of 31 countries from where travelers are prohibited from entering Kuwait until further notice recently.  The health authorities recommended the continuation of the list taking into account local and international health indicators, and that the spread of the coronavirus epidemic is still continuing and has not decreased in those countries.

The ban decision is under review on a weekly basis based on the health indicators of the coronavirus spread in those countries and international reports.

The Civil Aviation Authority announced a ban on flights to 31 destinations, which are India, Iran, China, Brazil, Colombia, Armenia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Syria, Spain, Singapore, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Iraq, Mexico, Indonesia, Chile, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Italy, North Macedonia, Moldova, Panama, Peru, Serbia, Montenegro, Dominican Republic and Kosovo.

However, the DGCA announced an addendum to the circular that highlights how Kuwaitis are permitted entry to the country at any time, even if they are arriving from the 31 countries currently on a ban list, as long as they can show a PCR certificate with a validity of 72 hours.

According to the circular, non-Kuwaiti arrival passengers who are a first-degree relative to a Kuwaiti national such as a father, mother, husband, Wife or filial (sons and daughters) are also granted permission to enter Kuwait, on the condition they have proof of their relationship. This also includes domestic workers accompanying the sponsor with a valid residency visa.

In the event of a sponsor’s death outside Kuwait, domestic workers are still allowed to enter Kuwait.

Health authorities have requested people avoid traveling to and from 31 countries due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
