Recent unconfirmed reports in some media outlets about the visit to Kuwait in January by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are unfounded. The Times Kuwait has learnt that a visit to Kuwait is currently not on the Indian prime minister’s schedule and the reports to this effect are not based on any official confirmation.
Media in India, as well as in Kuwait had speculated on an imminent visit to Kuwait by Prime Minister Modi during his scheduled visit to the United Arab Emirates in January to attend the Expo 2020 Dubai exhibition.
The most recent visit to Kuwait by an Indian prime minister was over 40 years ago, in 1981, when former prime minister Indira Gandhi visited Kuwait at the invitation of late Father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
Even though a visit to Kuwait by the Indian PM is long overdue, there have been no official measures in this regard, and no tentative dates have been discussed so far.
