The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced that the Hijri New Year falling on Saturday, 31 August will be the official holiday and that Sunday, 1 September will be a working day. Some people had expected that Sunday would be an additional holiday, as compensation for the Islamic New Year falling on Saturday, a weekend holiday.
