No decision has been taken to re-impose the stricter controls on the population so presently, there will be no curfews or area lockdowns, or airport closure, the Council of Ministers decided in its extraordinary meeting today, headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, Al Anbaa daily said.
However, there will restrictions on restaurants and complexes and malls. Moreover, there is an institutional ban for a week on passengers coming from abroad, similar to domestic workers.
Informed sources said in exclusive statements to Al-Anbaa that the Council of Ministers chose not to impose a curfew, so there is no total curfew, partial curfew, or area lockdown.
The council decided to close sports clubs and salons as of next week, and to reduce the hours of restaurants to 8 am till 5 pm, while commercial complexes and malls will remain open from 10 am till 8 pm, except for delivery requests.
The sources stressed the need to avoid traveling for tourism or recreation in the interest of public health and to avoid the transmission of coronavirus infections. The sources pointed out to the daily that positive results have been achieved in terms of reducing the number of Coronavirus infections through the commitment of citizens and expats to health precautions of wearing masks, social distancing, avoiding gatherings, and keenness to cleanse hands constantly.
The sources urged persistence to this commitment to limit the spread of the mutated virus and to preserve public health and ensure the health system is not overburdened.
