The new health decisions taken by the government during an extraordinary meeting raised many questions and one of them was ‘Will the government close commercial activity or opt for a partial lockdown’ should the country report an increasing number of infections with the mutated virus ‘Omicron’.

The government sources through Al-Qabas said no decisions will be taken to return to earlier days or close commercial activities, due to the availability of vaccines and the high percentage of people who have been vaccinated, in addition to the strictness in the application of health precautions during the coming days.

However, the sources made it clear at the same time that there will be measures to confront “Omicron” if it spreads, most notably reducing employee shifts, or working remotely and distance education, if necessary, and emphasis will be on wearing masks and social distancing.

The sources stated “Omicron” infections will increase, which is a possible and expected matter, as it has reached the region and neighboring countries, but everyone must be made aware of adhering to the requirements and taking care of them as it was in the past and taking the booster dose that studies have recently proven that it offers 98 percent protection against the virus
