The government of Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg amid a record rise in cases of Corona virus has opted to return to the general closure for 10 days starting today, Monday, according to the Austrian embassy official in Kuwait.
The lockdown, which can be extended to another period depending on the epidemiological situation in Austria, the official said there is no change in travel procedures for people entering Austria from Kuwait.
The Al-Qabas daily quoting the embassy official said Austria is on the way to becoming the first country in Europe to make Covid-19 vaccinations mandatory for all eligible people in view of nation’s corona virus crisis deepening.
“Travel from Kuwait as long as the traveler holds a vaccination certificate proving two doses of approved vaccines, in addition to a negative PCR test before arrival should be good enough to enter Vienna,” said the embassy source.
The source explained during the closure period travelers must double check with their hotel reservations to ensure these hotels are ready to receive them during the closure period.
