The issuing of new driving licenses to nurses and expatriate students has been stopped by the Ministry of Interior.

While the ministry has given no reason for its decision, it is believed to be part of the attempt by authorities to reduce the number of new drivers in a bid to alleviate traffic congestion on Kuwait roads.

However, the ministry added that those nurses and expat students already possessing a driving license will be able to renew it provided the students bring a registration certificate from the university or Public Authority for Applied Education, and nurses from the Ministry of Health or their current employer in the medical field.
