There has been a delay in the construction, completion, furnishing and maintenance of the new passenger building at Kuwait Airport by 11 percent, where the actual completion rate according to the report in February was 45.16 percent, informed sources in the Ministry of Public Works revealed to Al-Rai daily. According to the outlined schedule, the completion should be 56.8 percent.

The sources highlighted that August 28, 2016 was the start the first phase, which cost KD 1.3 billion which is expected to be completed in August 2022.

The daily reported, quoting sources that the delay in the project was due to the limited availability of workers and the delay in issuing work permits, as well as delay in supplies arriving from abroad due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

The source emphasized the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Rana Al-Fares’ keenness to overcome the obstacles that hinder the completion of the project, which will take coordination with the concerned authorities in the state.
