The Ministry of Public Works said the Minister of Works, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Amani Boqmaz, agreed to seek the assistance of a third party (a neutral consultant) to adjudicate the maintenance work that was carried out at the Darwaza Al-Abdul-Razzaq Tunnel.
The sources told Al-Rai daily that the maintenance work of the upper part of the Derwaza Tunnel has stopped following a report that confirmed that the mechanism for implementing the repair of the tunnel was wrong, while there was a corresponding opinion confirming the safety of the works that were implemented, as the percentage of completion before the decision to stop the works reached 65 percent.
